Mark Bittman Suggests We Eat Less Meat

I love Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything" cookbooks and really enjoyed watching his TED talk on food and the fate of humanity. It is great to hear such sensible thinking from a foodie!!!

In a nutshell Bittman says we eat too much meat, too few plants; too much fast food, too little home cooking -- all putting the entire planet at risk.

Producing meat requires an enormous amount of resources particularly water whereas producing veg and fruit takes much less. I have been a veggie for over 30 years and am healthier than anyone I know. One day not too far into the future people will be fighting wars over lack of water. What a terrible future for our kids and grandkids. If we all gave up meat it would certainly help.

Great food for thought, Joshua. I'm glad we eat less meats!
